About the Event

Want to take part in sporting history and raise money for a great cause?

About our record attempt - its gonna be tough…but great fun!
It may sound like a kick-about in the park, but this is no mean feat. This is 31 hours of competitive Five-A-Side Football played by highly trained individuals and adjudicated to the strictest levels to ensure that we achieve our objective of Guinness World Record holders and succeed in raising £15,000 for local children’s charities. We’re hard at work planning an amazing event which will take place at St Mary’s College Sports Centre, Crosby on the 27th of March 2010.

So how does the record attempt work?
Friendly kick-about? Bah! This is going to be an endurance test that will affect the players both physically and mentally... no doubt pushing the limits of both! The rules are essentially broken into two - how the game is played and how it's recorded.

Players: For every hour of competitive football played, the players accrue 5 minutes break. That time can be accumulated to 20 mins which is used for eating, sleeping, toilet breaks, interviews and bouts of crying! The game has to be played stringently to the 5 a-side rules and at no point are players to simply pass the ball around with the hope of rest. What if you're a sub I hear you say! They must get it easy! Well, you’re wrong! They aren't allowed more than a certain distance from the pitch unless it's a designated break. With Rolling Sub's during a break in play, they won't get much time to rest.

As for Evidence gathering, to give you a taste of what we need...
  • Witness testimonies
  • Witnesses for the witnesses
  • Video evidence
  • Media Evidence
  • Log Books
  • Official and specifically chosen timing pieces
.... This is then handed to an official Guinness World Record Adjudicator who, God willing, will issue the record on the day and make 16 very tired people happy.
Get involved and pledge your support
We hope that this activity will demonstrate that, when set a challenge, Liverpool and Everton supporters can work together in a way that will not only make sporting history but help others less fortunate than themselves through their generous fundraising efforts. All 16 players have their own dedicated `Just Giving` page where you can donate as large or small amount as you wish.

The 3 nominated children`s charities who will benefit from the fundraising are 23 Foundation (Jamie Carragher), Cash For Kids (Radio City) and Everton Foundation.
