About Us
The Sefton Triathlon was set up in 2002 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the Queen. It was only intended as a single year event, but it proved to be so popular that it was organised again the following year, and has now become an annual event on the Merseyside sporting calendar.

Each year, various sporting celebrities have been involved including the footballers Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard. The event also attracted the five time Olympic Gold medal winner Sir Steve Redgrave, who was so impressed by the event that he became the event patron, which he remains to this day.

The organisers of the event are all local residents who give up their time for free, and  work throughout the year on a voluntary basis.
The event has grown each year, and in 2008, there were over 1150 people of all ages from 8 to 88 who competed, making it the worlds largest community triathlon.

Numerous charities have benefitted from the event including Macmillan cancer care, British Heart foundation, Aspire, and many more local charities. To date the amount raised for the charities is over £150,000.
