Introduction
This year over 1000 competitors aged 8 upwards are expected to participate and the event will add another 2 accolades to its growing reputation as the Best Community Triathlon in the UK.
Firstly, the race will include a `Children with Disabilities` section for both Junior & Senior schoolchildren, making the Sefton Triathlon one of the most `Inclusive` triathlons not only in the UK but in Europe.
The second accolade is the honour of having Sir Steve Redgrave 5 times
Olympic Gold Medalist as the Event Patron. Sir Steve has also agreed
to host the post-event presentation where he will present all the various
race category winners with their medals & trophies.
This year we will have 3 medal winning Olympians not only presenting
the medals to the competitors as they cross the finishing line but actually
competing in the triathlon itself. They are Steve Parry Gt Britain swimming
captain & Olympic bronze medalist, Steve Smith Olympic high jump
bronze medalist & Steve Cummings Olympic Cycling Silver & Commonwealth
gold in Melbourne. So why not take this opportunity to compete with
3 famous sporting stars.
We have also introduced a free to enter team category
called the Team Challenge for Adults/Veterans competing in teams
of 3 (see entry form for further details).
