Cash for Kids Duathlon/Triathlon Challenge 2010

Radio City’s Cash for Kids are very proud to have been chosen as the main charity for the Duathlon and Triathlon Challenge 2010. Working in association with St Mary’s College and St Mary’s Preparatory School The Mount, will be inspirational. They have many years experience in organising both of these events, which Cash for Kids and the schools and organisations taking part will be able to draw from.

Radio City’s Cash for Kids is part of the Radio City Charity Foundation We are the official charity of Radio City 96.7, City talk and Magic 1548.Our children’s charity is recognised for the work and support offered to children and young people suffering from poverty, illness, physical and mental disabilities in and around Liverpool, North West and North Wales. 100% of all the money donated to Cash for Kids is distributed in the form of grants to children’s charities & community groups aiming to improve the lives of children. We are a Charity known for its commitment to making a difference to those it supports. With the invaluable support given by our community Cash for Kids has been able to give in excess of £1,000,000 over the last 9 years and helped over 50,000 children.

Radio City’s Cash for Kids is committed to making the Duathlon /Triathlon Challenges one of its main fundraising priorities in 2010, by bringing together youngsters from all our communities for what is an exhilarating fun and exciting event to take part in. The fantastic thing about the Duathlon is that all age groups of any ability can participate. From the “weenies” who use scooters, as many have not yet mastered the art of riding a bike to the more athletic youngsters who strive to move up from the Duathlon to the Triathlon pitting their skills against swimmers, runners and cyclists from all over the country and other parts of the world.

Radio City’s Cash for Kids are delighted that one of the patrons for the Duathlon/ Triathlon Challenge 2010 is Jamie Burdekin. Jamie from Blundellsands took part in the the quad singles and quad doubles tennis at the Beiijing Paralymics in 2008 representing Great Britain, he brought home a bronze medal. Jamie was also a member of Great Britain’s quad wheelchair tennis team that won a 3rd World Team Cup in 2009 beating the United States with a 2-0 victory.

Jamie is an amazing human being, who is supportive and inspirational to youngsters in the community. Having been injured in a car accident as a young man he has gone on to achieve the goals that he had set himself but also instils in others that they can do the same.
